Diamonds of the North
Radiant ice, the diamonds of the north,
Exquisite, decorating twig and limb.
Frost crystals on dainty pixie feet march forth,
And leave their sparkling path at each capricious whim.
A macro star—rare this far south—across the sky,
Wavers, fades, and plays in sheer translucent shift,
Hinting at the glorious spectacle on high,
The aurora borealis lends its heavenly gift.
Oh, show us brilliant sun, who welcomes day
Like a glowing tapestry displayed by fingers deft,
Project every hue of spectrum in each ray,
The beauty of the gems the night has left.
