The Sounds of Summer
They pound,
The Harley's with their mufflers loud,
The muffled tread of running shoes.
Comes 'round,
The charcoal grill, the picnic crowd,
Baseball excitement, win or lose.
Summer sound.
They pound;
Hearts waiting for wedding in June,
The grouse in hidden forests deep,
We've found,
In haunting tremolo of loon.
Songs, words take the place of sleep,
Summer sound.
They sound,
The whirring of bicycle wheels,
The splash of casting in the lake.
Abound
The satisfaction hit ball feels,
As workers take a bit of break,
Summer's sound.
