The imperfection of the oral voice
Say, would you repeat that back?
I’m not sure you got it.
What you replied, though may be fact,
Was definitely not it.
And what you speak to me, as well
I sometimes hear as twitters.
Could it be our receptors tell,
Things not on our transmitters.
Could you propose a remedy,
So we’d get it correctly?
Though we enjoy the comedy,
We’d like the word directly.
Do you suppose a line of print,
Like phones for the non-hearing,
Would enable us without a hint
Understand the words unerring?
Guess we can stand to say it twice,
Spell, use i.e. word, whatever.
To talk with you is, oh, so nice.
Such fun, so dear, and clever.
