February Fooling Us
So, winterís winding down; we watch for signs.
Sunís rays warm the inside of the car.
Days a little longer, exchanged valentines,
Seed catalogs comprise our repertoire.
We begin to watch for robins, budding tree,
For spring, become as merry as a clown.
Anticipation trumps reality
As we imagine winter winding down.
The temperatures have dropped to record lows,
And heating fuel is gobbled in our town.
The warm-up forecast includes heavy snows,
Itís remotely we see winter winding down.
Weíll sit here by the fire with our valentine
And think how we donít have to mow the lawn.
Until springís sun decides on us to shine,
We wonít care if winterís hanging on.
